Recommendations and warnings

Those who are rich with on the water experience know that the sea is capable of sudden and severe changes. It is an extreme environment where unexpected changes occur with very few warning signals, generally not foreseeable by the less experienced boaters.

We suggest that less experienced people take their first voyages with a professional captain, knowing and practicing the most important aspects of boat handling and water safety.

To know the sea means to have respect for it and never undervalue the extreme consequences which might come from a voyage not carefully planned.

Before taking to the sea it is wise to investigate the forecast for weather and sea conditions and to file a float plan with your marina and/or with a friend to include your destinations, intended courses and expected time of return.

In addition to routine preventative maintenance it is recommended that you inspect the condition of all the vital components of your boat, including your steering and control systems to ensure proper operation before you leave the dock.

It is also advisable that you carry adequate provisions of food and water should you find yourself unexpectedly at sea for an extended period.

On new boats most of the accessories must be approved by the boat builder before being installed. The addition of other electronic devices may disturb or interfere with the signals of vital electronic components, such as steering and engine control devices. We recommend that you contact professional technicians when you choose to install new accessories.

Alcohol and drugs may impair your judgement or ability to safely operate a boat. Please keep the waterways safe and avoid operating any vehicle while under the influence.

Experience is not a substitute for caution or good judgement. It is recommended that you always operate your boat in a manner consistent with the safe capability of the boat and the sea conditions.

Please respect the sea, its shores and its floor by avoiding behaviours which can create any kind of pollution. The sea is a legacy of us all who love it.
